Should Christians Celebrate It - Should Anyone Celebrate It?

Kwanzaa: a Christmas Substitute?

Dr. Karenga, 1977: "... it was chosen to give a Black alternative to the existing holiday and give Blacks an opportunity to celebrate themselves and history rather than simply imitate the practice of the dominant society." pg. 21, Kwanzaa: Origin, Concepts, Practice

This website exposes the true reasons behind the creation and purpose of the afrocentric holiday, Kwanzaa.

But why the concern?

In spite of it being declared a non-religious holiday, Kwanzaa is being accepted in our children's schools, stores and etc., alongside the religious celebrations of Christmas and Hanukkah, sometimes leaving Christmas out altogether.

And for many in the Black church, Jesus Christ and the principles found in the bible are not enough.  People are being urged to practice daily the seven principles of Kwanzaa (the Nguzo Saba) to better one's self and to seek intercession on the behalf of dead ancestors (ancestor worship).

What is revealed will surprise many believers as well as non-believers in Christ as the author shows how the creator of Kwanzaa's hostility toward organized religion and the "white man" prompted him to create this culturally and spiritually deceptive celebration.

"Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them."   Ephesians 5:11 (NIV)
