Publishing a Blog to Amazon.com’s Kindle Store

Curiosity got the best of me as I was so excited to see that you can publish your blog on Amazon.com’s Kindle store! I already knew that you can you have your books, e-books, magazines and newspapers, but blogs? I had to give it a try and I did it! But now what? And why is there a price tag on it?

Why a price tag for a free access blog?

This blog is being sold (for the time being) at the Kindle store for 99 cents (with a 14 day free trial) because that’s the lowest that Amazon will let anyone post their blog in their store! I really wanted this to be free but there are folks willing to subscribe to blogs/newspapers/magazines and the likes for a small price just so they can get it on their Kindle e-book reader. (Yep, I’m one of those folks!)  And at least you do get to receive 30% royalty so that Amazon can get paid for your free marketing services.  Not bad at all!

Why sell it at all? Well having my Kindle to catch up on articles, blogs and read them at my convenience on a screen larger then my smartphone for a price 1/3rd that of most smartphones/PCs and tablets is simply too wonderful. The same convenience I have is the same convenience I want to offer other Kindle readers. Also, any exposure you get can for your blog is well worth it. I have information to share and I want people to know my blog exists so any reasonable means necessary let folks know it’s here!

The Kindle: My new love affair!

I’ve recently started a new love affair with the Kindle. It’s been out for so long but I just hadn’t realized the advantages of it. One is that if you work in a high security office your smartphone can’t be caught on and laptops and tablets aren’t even allowed in the building! But this little contraption won’t download your office files wirelessly, thus avoiding sensitive material. So far my Kindle has been allowed to go where I go in the workplace.

Not only is it a reader, but it is an audiobook as well. So while I’m driving my 60 minutes a day to and from work, I just plug my Kindle into my car’s speaker system and wham, I’m listening to a book that I wouldn’t otherwise have time to read! Another thing I love about this Kindle is that the battery will last me a minimum of two weeks to a max of about 2 months if I don’t use the audiobook or wireless on it. There are many other features on the Kindle that I am still discovering – and this is just on their – about to become antique – model as a whole new line of Kindles including one in color, are rolling out in the next few months!*

But it IS what it IS and that is mostly a book reader. And no, Amazon.com is not paying me to write this either. Not with my blog being as controversial as it is, Amazon.com doesn’t need my blog to further its product line. I’d say the Kindle is doing quite well without me as it is Amazon.com’s number one product sold!  And please no questions to me about a potential iPad vs Kindle Fire vs Nook (Barnes and Noble) war.  Just Google for that info as I am simply too content for now with the lo-tech Kindle 3 E ink wifi reader.

Anyways, this post was just a slight deviation from my regular writing as I took a little time out to explain the Kindle ad that’s popping up on my blog now. Yes, this is a shameless plug of my Kindle store blog and free advertisement for the Kindle.

This is my first venture onto Amazon.com and preparing the way for my books I’m planning to add later. If you have any comments, tips or complaints do feel free to add!
